To better engage the community users and foster collaboration, the team will establish the following CoMIC working groups. These groups will focus on key areas of the project and support its development and application:

  1. Components: This working group is divided into multiple sub-groups, each focusing on a specific CoMIC component. These sub-groups will explore the basic implementation of each component, ensuring effective development and integration.

  2. Interfaces: This group focuses on studying and specifying communication interfaces between XR devices, CoMIC middleware, XR application servers, and CoMIC components. The goal is to ensure seamless communication and interaction across all components of the system.

  3. Measurement Metrics: This group defines the key metrics used to measure the performance of collaborative immersive applications, such as synchronization accuracy and system scalability. If necessary, new metrics for emerging applications will also be proposed.

  4. Tools and Datasets: This group is responsible for creating and curating tools and datasets that will be shared with the broader community. These resources will support reproducibility and collaboration in multi-user XR research.

  5. Applications: The Applications group develops multi-user XR applications and use cases that can benefit from the CoMIC infrastructure. These use cases will help demonstrate the practical value of CoMIC in real-world scenarios.

Each working group will collaborate closely with the community and contribute to the overall success of the CoMIC project by addressing critical aspects of immersive, multi-user XR applications and technologies.
